What are the differences between TPU and TPE when used as charging cable jackets?

TPU is preferred for public stations, frequent dragging and -40°C extreme cold. Modified TPE suits light home use with cost concerns.
- Abrasion: TPU outperforms TPE, better against rolling & dragging
- Weather resistance: TPU has stable UV and hydrolysis resistance
- Flexibility: TPE is softer at same hardness; TPU has good rebound and anti-permanent deformation
- Low temp: Polyether TPU stays flexible at -40°C; standard TPE tends to stiffen in cold
DEGSON adopts TPU for the full range of IEC 62196 products, while TPE is widely used for SAE J1772 & SAE J3400. For details, please refer to the product specification pages.
